Profile

Hyangmi Kim is an assistant professor in the Recreation Education and Therapy programs in the Department of Exercise Sciences and Recreation at Lehman College- CUNY. She obtained her MS in Therapeutic Recreation, with a focus on evidence-based practice. Her doctoral research centered on Leisure Behavior, particularly examining travel reminiscence functions. Furthermore, during her doctoral studies, she pursued a minor in Psychology, with a concentration on neuroscience and memory.

Dr. Kim also serves as the co-program director of the recreation education and therapy programs and is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Her research agendas embrace analyses of leisure experiences and their derived benefits. These investigations employ multiple methods (i.e., qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods), and are considered interdisciplinary endeavors, encompassing the domains of recreation therapy, psychology, and tourism.
