Bloomberg Inc. President Peter Grauer Addresses Lehman College Students During New York Jobs CEO Council’s CEO Speaker Series Event
Lehman College students in Business, Computer Science, and Journalism had a front row seat for a conversation between Lehman president Fernando Delgado and Peter T. Grauer, president, Bloomberg Inc. and chairman emeritus, Bloomberg at a New York Jobs CEO Council event hosted at the College October 22.
"It is our honor to welcome Bloomberg’s President Peter Grauer to campus and offer students the opportunity to gain knowledge and insights directly from a global business leader," said Fernando Delgado, president Lehman College. "This event highlights our ongoing commitment to equipping students with the tools and opportunities needed to succeed. By providing access to resources like our Bloomberg Terminal Lab and building key industry partnerships and collaborations, including with the Jobs Council’s CEO Speaker Series, we are helping to shape the pipeline of future leaders in business, tech, and beyond."
Grauer spoke on leadership, talent development, and the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive job creation. His visit included a stop in Lehman’s Bloomberg Terminal Lab—the only one on a CUNY campus and a meeting with campus leadership and faculty to discuss how Bloomberg can work with local colleges like Lehman to better prepare students for future careers.
"Bloomberg has been proud to partner with the New York Jobs CEO Council to build a pipeline of future business and tech leaders across New York from CUNY campuses," said Grauer. "Through this public-private collaboration, we have hired nearly 350 full-time employees from CUNY and Lehman combined in the past six years and we are committed to attracting more high-performing talent as our company continues to grow. It was a great visit to Lehman College today to meet students and faculty."
Following the event, students got the chance to connect directly with Bloomberg executives during a networking session.
“In order to be successful in today’s workforce, students must be given essential tools and skills that will give them a competitive edge post-graduation,” said Dene Hurley, dean of Lehman College School of Business. “Peter’s visit to Lehman College demonstrates that New York employers are looking for talent that is well prepared for the workforce, Lehman College is exemplary in updating their curriculum to meet the demands of employers.”
Launched in 2020, the Jobs Council is an organization that represents the collective commitment of 30 CEOs of the largest employers in New York to hiring 100,000 low-income New Yorkers into in-demand careers, including 25,000 job seekers from the City University of New York (CUNY). The CEO Speaker Series supports this commitment and connects influential business leaders with students and faculty in the city’s public education institutions.
“The Jobs Council’s CEO Speaker Series connects CEOs of major employers with the next generation of talent across CUNY campuses,” said Kiersten Barnet, executive director of the New York Jobs CEO Council. “Having spent nearly 15 years of my career working at Bloomberg, Peter Grauer’s visit to Lehman is particularly special for me. Bloomberg is a fantastic place for students to launch a career, as are the Jobs Council’s other member companies.”
