Students can practice their interviewing skills and techniques by participating in one-on-one mock interviews with their Career Specialist. Log on to Navigate to schedule an appointment.

On-campus and off-campus interviews and seminars are arranged with companies and agencies interested in hiring Lehman students. During these recruitment activities, you will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from many different organizations and industries to learn about their openings, benefits, and the application process. Recruitment events can be open to the Lehman community or focus on an area of study. Be sure to read your Lehman email and log on to Handshake to learn about our upcoming sessions.

Before using any of our services, all students must log in to their Handshake account. Handshake allows us to stay connected with students and alumni, keep job and internship postings updated, share information about events and workshops, and review and approve résumés. Registering on Handshake ensures you receive the latest updates and opportunities available.

Deciding on a career is an important, complex, and serious undertaking. You must consider your interests and talents, abilities, skills, values, life goals and personality. We use the following assessments to assist you:

  • What can I do with this major? Helps you to connect academic majors to careers. Click on a major that is of interest to you and you will see outlines of common career areas, employers  and strategies designed to maximize your career opportunities.
  • Focus 2: Focus 2  is an online career guidance software program to collect information about you and organize it so that it provides the potential for optimum career exploration and planning. The summary of your interests, abilities and values is presented in an integrated manner that allows you to easily understand your results by relating them to the working world.
  • Strong Interest Inventory (SII)This inventory matches an individual's interests with employment opportunities, education and leisure activities.
  • Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)This indicator identifies valuable differences between people. It is a helpful tool for assessing your own personality type. The results are used to assess how your personality type affects your career choice, as well as its impact on your personal development.
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook: Using this resource you can read about the nature of the work, education and training requirements, work environments, salary and ten-year job growth outlook for your desired career.  
  • O*NET: The O*NET program is the nation's primary source of occupational information. O*NET Online contains information and descriptions of hundreds of occupations.
  • THRIVE Technical Assistance ProgramUsing this resource you can read about the Careers and Criminal justice-Affected People in New York.

The Career Exploration & Development Center (CEDC) offers a dedicated computer lab located in Room 229 of Shuster Hall, available to current students and alumni for career-related projects. Whether you're working on your résumé, cover letter, job applications, or exploring career resources, our lab provides a quiet space equipped with the tools you need. To use one of our computers, please bring your validated student or alumni CUNY Card. Our lab is here to support your professional development and help you stay on track with your career goals.
