Summit – Day 1 

Wednesday, December 6, 2023 

9:00 am to 10:00 am - Inauguration of the Summit | Lovinger Theater Main Room                                 

  • Launch
  • Presentation on “Bronx Health Collaborative”      
  • Keynote address                                             

Purpose: Learn about CIHE’s approach to working with Community Based Organizations in the Bronx.            

                                            

10:30am to 12:30 pm - Workforce Development Workshops

Purpose: Provide participating CBOs, faculty, and staff with learning and skills development opportunities on topics related to the Summit’s topic (running concurrently). 

  • Title: Understanding Latinos in the U.S. Census

  • Title: The Role that Deportability Plays on the Wellbeing of Immigrants

  • Title: Locating scholarly articles online using Google Scholar, PubMed and New York Public Library

Purpose: Facilitate a community conversation based on Dr. Camara Jones’s allegories on health equity using anti-racism frameworks. Moderator Dr. Tailisha Gonzalez, PhD, MPH, MS (lunch provided)

PurposeShowcase Bronx-based community organizations (CBOs) to the Lehman’s community to engage in community projects and research by providing information about their organizations and raising awareness of relevant issues 

 

1:00pm to 3:00 pm - Keynote Panel: Migration and Health with a Human Rights Perspective | Lovinger Theater Main Room

Purpose: The Keynote Panel is the culminating event of the "Migration and Health" Summit, featuring national and international scientists and scholars on the Panel topic.
