Biography
Jill Becker Feigeles has been teaching Social Work courses at the graduate level since September 2003. Her teaching focus has been on a range of different courses including Foundations of Social Work Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Diversity, Social Welfare and Social Welfare Policy along with the Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI). Enthusiastically dedicated to her students and to the art and science of teaching, nothing thrills Dr. Becker Feigeles more than a classroom of new students.
In addition to her expertise in teaching, Dr. Becker Feigeles has several research interests including the benefits of intergenerational relationships to older adults, experiences of aging with chronic illness, and professional social work education including experiential learning. She has published or presented in all of these areas. In the field of aging, one study looked at the phenomenon of aging with multiple sclerosis, another examined the impact of reciprocity in intergenerational relationships on seniors. In the area of professional social work education, she has examined aspects of the teaching of responsible research conduct in behavioral health fields.
Dr. Becker Feigeles received her PhD in 2006 and her MSW in 1997 from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University. Prior to teaching Dr. Becker-Feigeles was director of the Ridgewood-Bushwick Senior Center on Brooklyn, NY. She has a background in both community social work and group work, clinical experience counseling seniors and adolescents as well as supervision experience.
