Dene Hurley

Dr. Dene Hurley is the Dean of the School of Business, Lehman’s newest and 6th school, launched on July 1, 2022.  Prior to this role, she was the Chair of the Department of Economics and Business at Lehman College, one of the largest departments that served over 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students in accounting business and economics. Dr. Hurley earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Northeastern University, an MSc. in Development Studies from the University of Bath, U.K., and a BSc. in Economics from City-University of London, U.K. Dr. Dene Hurley’s research focus is on international finance and trade, primarily on Asia as well as on labor market-related issues such as the role of gender and Hispanic labor market issues. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, including Economics Papers, Gender in Management, Applied Economics, and Global Economic Review.  Before joining Lehman College, Dr. Hurley worked as an economist in the maritime industry and environmental consulting, as well as with the Seychelles Islands’ Ministry of Finance.
