Nikolaos Papanikolaou

Dr. Papanikolaou received his Ph.D. in economics from the New School for Social Research in NYC. His area of concentration is in econometrics, macro-econometrics, statistics, interdisciplinary field of econophysics (non-parametric and stochastic approaches to the statistical size distributions of income) and business cycles. Dr. Papanikolaou has taught courses in econometrics, statistics, bio-statistics, macroeconomics, microeconomics, international trade and finance and the history of economic thought.

Before joining the Department of Economics and Business at Lehman College, Dr. Papanikolaou was a research assistant at the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis at The New School where he worked on the Standard of Living Project, analyzing trends in income (personal, household and family) over time within the context of economic growth, employment, and income inequality over the past five decades in the United States. Prior to that, he was a research assistant at The Research Foundation of the City University of New York, analyzing macroeconomic data, including income distribution and inequality, unemployment, savings, investment, national debt, monetary, fiscal and tax policy initiatives.
