Biography

Professor Denise M. Stefano, CPA, CGMA, MBA, is an Associate Professor in the Accounting Department at Mercy University, where she served as Chair for 12 years. She has also held positions as Graduate Program Director and Interim Associate Dean of the School of Business and currently teaches as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Lehman College, focusing on CPA-related courses.

As Chair, she developed the Accounting Program's curriculum, leading to a 15% increase in CPA Examination pass rates over ten years. She established strong relationships with accounting firms, resulting in high job placement rates and a national #2 ranking for graduate student earnings two years post-graduation. Professor Stefano is active on several university committees, including the Steering Committee for Middle States Accreditation Review.

With extensive experience in public and private accounting, she has worked as a Senior Auditor, Business Advisor, Corporate Controller, and CFO. She has served on the NYSSCPA Board of Directors and received the Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA Educator Award.
