CONNECT WITH ADMISSIONS

Lehman College offers at least half of all courses online (HSA 301, HSA 304, HEA 310, HSD 308, HSA 325). Students who register late for classes may miss out on their preferred modality and should add their name to the waitlist(s). Only two (2) of the above courses can overlap with your major (usually HSA 301 and HSA 304) for students whose major is HSA. Upon completion of these courses, you will receive a certificate from the Registrar’s Office at Lehman College.

New York State has a 6-step process to become a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Click link below to see the steps with the classes above as step 3 before pursuing the Administrator in Training (AIT) program.

PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS

AIT is a state-mandated/regulated internship with different requirements and rotations from the 130 hours HSA requires.

PROGRAM TRAINING

After visiting the website, we recommend that you make a list of, and submit all required documentation to the state. These documents should be submitted to the state 8 weeks prior to starting your internship. You must get approval from the state before you start. You will need to find a site to do your AIT internship. Students may simultaneously seek a job at a nursing home that offers AITs to demonstrate their interest while pursuing the AIT. Use the link below to type your zip code and locate a nursing home located within your area.

NURSING HOME LOCATIONS

Upon completing the training, the students sit for the licensure exam. NY's licensure requirements are quite strict, but that means other states honor NY's licensure; the reverse is not the case.

Note: The AIT (aka internship) is NOT HSA 470 (internship course for HSA majors at Lehman College).
