About ALC

The Lehman College Adult Learning Center (ALC) is one of the leading adult education programs in New York City, annually serving approximately 800 individuals with free classes in Basic Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and English Language Acquisition (ELA), and (TASC™) exam preparation for High School Equivalency diplomas.

English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Assessment to determine class level; ongoing advisory services Morning or evening classes that build English speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, and listening skills.

Adult Basic Education

The ALC offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes for people ages 16 and older who are no longer in school but want to improve their reading, writing, civic, and math skills.

High School Equivalency

The ALC offers classes designed for adult students who need to prepare for the state’s TASC (formerly GED) exam leading to a High School Equivalency diploma.
