The Workforce Education is expert in customizing training for young adults. By earning industry credentials high school dropouts, unemployed youth and students co-enrolled in Career Technical Education Programs not only meet their short-term employment needs but get started on a career path. These students often come back to Lehman to pursue their degree.

Prepares students for high demand C.N.A positions while preparing them for long-term careers in healthcare.

Allows students with interest in business obtain immediate positions as tax preparers while building careers in finance.

Yolaury Hernandez, RN   

Yolaury Hernandez, RN

Yolaury was born in the Dominican Republic and migrated to the United States when she was 10 years old. Through Lehman College’s partnership with the New Jewish Home, she enrolled in the customized Certified Nursing Assistant Program (CNA) at Lehman College, SCPS. The program afforded her the opportunity to shadow and help nurses at the NJH, where “her love for nursing began to grow”. Yolaury earned her CNA certification at Lehman College, and at the age of 18, the NJH employed Yolaury to work as a CNA. In summer 2020, the Workforce Education Program at the SCPS, Lehman College, employed Yolaury to work as a CNA Tutor. Yolaury said, “it was while working at the NJH and Lehman College I began to realize that I love teaching and helping people build their skills to their true potential”. With that realization, she decided to apply to Lehman College Nursing Program. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2022 and went on to pass the NCLEX exam in August of 2022. Yolaury is now working as a Registered Nurse and she “loves every second of it.

Gerrad Mayora, Tax Preparer

Gerrad grew up in the Gun Hill neighborhood in the Bronx. He always wanted to work in business and tax preparation is a good stepping stone. Lehman’s program gave him the confidence to pursue the career he always wanted while helping his community.  

 

 

Emmanuel Vargas Francisco, CNA   

Emmanuel Vargas Francisco, CAN

Emmanuel Vargas Francisco, obtained his Certified Nursing Assistant license at Lehman College. He immigrated from the Dominican Republic when he was 12. He grew up in the Bronx and was able to earn his CNA license while still in HS. As a working CNA he could afford his dream of going to Utica college and studying pre-med. Read More.
