Center Policies

Arrival and Departure

Parents are asked to bring their children at the Center no later than 9:30 a.m. It is important for children to have time for choices and free play before beginning their structure time. The children will sit down for snack at 9:30 a.m. At that time the classroom door will be closed. If you arrive and the door is closed, please wait in the hallway with your child. We can not stress the importance of getting your child here on time and how it will set the tone for their day and yours.

Parents are asked to sign their children IN and OUT of the Center everyday. The sign-in sheets are on the clipboards usually near the classroom doorway. The teachers use these sign-in sheets to keep track of the children throughout the day.

Behavior Management

Behavior Management is a learning experience. Teachers use a variety of approaches, including anticipation, redirection, and problem solving. Teachers will use a positive discipline approach, which teaches children how to behave appropriately. Children will be taught to respect the rights of the child, the group, and the adults. Teachers will guide the children, helping them make good decisions while teaching them self-esteem. Our philosophy regarding discipline methods and guidance is as follows:

  • Positive
  • Consistent with the age and developmental needs of the child
  • Lead to the child’s ability to maintain self control

Classroom Environment

Every child in our Center thrives in a nurturing and caring environment created by staff. Each child is encouraged to actively participate in the program developed and implemented by the teachers. Children learn through hands-on, process oriented experiences. All activities are developmentally appropriate. The programs are tailored to specific age groups with emphasis on the individual needs of each child.
