Mission Statement

The Office of Strategic Persistence Initiatives advances student success by promoting seamless educational pathways, strengthening cross sector collaborations, and supporting academic departments that are developing innovative, data informed programs. We cultivate strong relationships with community colleges through articulation agreements, pre-transfer advising, and the Bronx Transfer Affinity Group, ensuring that transfer students are welcomed, prepared, and empowered to achieve their academic goals. At the graduate level, we partner with other colleges and universities to expand access to advanced degrees and enhanced professional opportunities for students throughout the region.

We support academic departments by providing course demand projections, reviewing curriculum proposals, and developing articulation agreements that strengthen existing programs and facilitate the creation of new ones. Through data informed planning, collaborative guidance, and alignment with institutional goals, we help departments expand opportunities for students and promote cohesive, well-structured academic pathways.

Through the coordination of Lehman’s Summer and Winter Sessions, we provide accessible and flexible learning options for visiting students, current students, and pre-college learners. Our office enhances the student experience by offering clear pathways to registration, diverse academic offerings—including study abroad, course sequences, and internship courses—and connections to essential campus resources.

Guided by a commitment to equity, collaboration, and student-centered practice, we work to ensure that all learners can progress smoothly along their educational journey and thrive at Lehman College and beyond.
