Biography
Dr. Martha Rosas is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood and Childhood Education. Her research currently focuses on the analysis of intercultural strategy use in multimodal texts by individuals in the Taíno community, identifying ways to leverage Indigenous language influences in Spanish, and developing assignments which increase early childhood teacher candidate's awareness of students' home languages and ways these can be included in the classroom via translanguaging. Her chapter, Armonía con una palita de conflicto: A ‘Latino’ relationship as intercultural is included in Latina Agency through Narration in Education: Speaking Up on Erasure, Identity, and Schooling (Language, Culture, and Teaching Series). Starting in Spring 2024, she will also be the Coordinator of the Advanced Bilingual Extension (Birth-6th Grade).
