Biography
Using sociocultural and critical theories of learning, Jen’s research examines the intersection of learning, identity, and agency in PK-12 settings. Her qualitative studies are focused within urban spaces and examine the intersection of learning and identify for multilingual learners, as well as how teachers draw upon agency to co-construct learning spaces rooted in equity and empathy to transform curriculum and pedagogy. Her work has appeared in Bilingual Research Journal, International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, Reading Teacher, Reading & Writing Quarterly, Action in Teacher Education, as well as the Journal of Language, Identity and Education. Jen teaches literacy courses in the ECCE department, as well as qualitative methodology courses at Lehman College and the CUNY Graduate Center.
