Are You Ready?
This course is designed to help students get oriented with the Blackboard environment and establish the baseline for the necessary technology proficiency. It provides an overview of the core elements of an online course and prepares students for online learning.
Lehman IT will automatically enroll all students in the Lehman Online Orientation for the new semester. Watch for announcements or look for it on your Blackboard home page.
This is a self-paced course. On average, it takes about one hour to complete.
We recommend that students complete the course in one sitting.
Upon the completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion. The online instructor might require students to submit this certificate as the proof of completion.
Should You Take an Online Class?
Advantages to learning online
Access: Online learning provides access to students who may be working have family responsibilities or live too far away, keeping them from attending class on campus. When taking an online course, you can open your laptop and get started learning right from where you are. There are classes that may meet online, in-person, or in some combination of these modalities (HyFlex).
Flexible Scheduling: The flexibility that online learning affords is appealing because it allows students to design their own schedule. You can do you work at any time (3:00am or 3:00pm), as long as assignment due dates set by your instructor are met. You can log in anytime, after work or after your children have gone to sleep, to watch class videos or post on a discussion forum.
Convenience: Online learning is convenient because you can learn in an environment where you feel is most comfortable to you, such as a coffee shop, public library or your home. You know what your learning style is and where you will be most productive. Many students use the Blackboard app on their phone to check in on their online course to stay up to date.
Modes of Course Delivery
Choose a course that fits your schedule. Select among online, hybrid, HyFlex, and in-person options that will allow you to fulfill your academic requirements.
