Workshops, Institutes & Initiatives


Step up your game by attending our on-going workshops, webinars and offerings. 

  • Teaching & Learning Instructional Series (COMING SOON): Learn about instructional technology and innovative teaching and learning by engaging in a dialogue on best practices. For new and experienced professors.

    Each 60-minute session is followed by a 30-minute Q&A.
    Sessions are offered in HyFlex (online or in-person in Carman Hall 249). 
  • Preparation for Teaching Online: A Foundational Workshop: This two-week, asynchronous, instructor-facilitated workshop, is offered several times a year. The workshop models effective design and facilitation skills, and addresses pedagogical approaches to teaching online and hybrid, as well as organization and management of an online class.

NOTE: Your supervisor (chair) must approve your registration for this workshop and you must be scheduled to teach a total of two online or hybrid courses within two semesters following the workshop. Faculty who successfully complete the workshop are eligible for payment based on 10 hours at their NTA rate (up to $550 total).

  • Course Design Institute (CDI): The course design institute helps developing and seasoned faculty develop, revise and build model courses. Faculty will dedicate 2 to 4 hours weeklyfor this 12 week With the support of instructional designers, faculty will design and revise a course to meet OSCQR standards. (OSCQR rubric)

Note: Courses must be approved by the faculty Chair before acceptance into CDI.

  • Open Educational Resources (OER) Workshop: This two-week, asynchronous, instructor-facilitated workshop will help you refresh and renew your course using OER and possibly replace a textbook. You will need your supervisor's (chair's) approval before you register and must be scheduled to teach an online or hybrid course that you plan to enhance with OER. Faculty who successfully complete the workshop are eligible for payment based on 10 hours at their NTA rate (up to $550 total).
