Faculty Resources

Getting Started

The Center for Teaching and Learning is here to help you become a more effective and accessible online educator. We support your use of instructional technology for; online, hybrid, hyflex, and face-to-face teaching. In addition, we can help with the design, implementation, and delivery of your online courses, as well as the creation of new online courses and programs.

Whether you have just a few short questions, or need more extensive support, Faculty Consultants can help with a range of topics, from:

  • Course planning, design, and development
  • Using the latest and emerging technologies
  • Online, hybrid, hyflex and in person instructional strategies and best practices
  • Switching textbooks to Open Educational Resources
  • Making a course more student-centered

Individual consultations are in person or online, can last from 30 minutes to three hours, and can help you with establishing instructor presence, motivating and retaining students, and how to continually engage your students.

To schedule a consultation, email us your course syllabus or draft of your course development plan and note specific questions you would like to address during the consultation.

Brightspace Ambassadors /Faculty Mentors & Program Overview

The 2024/25 Class of Faculty Mentors will also be leading the transition to Brightspace, helping Lehman faculty enhance their distance teaching and learning abilities.

Note: They will also still be able to help with Blackboard issues until Spring 2025, the last semester of Blackboard.

Faculty Mentors will:

  • Advise department colleagues with the set-up of Brightspace to support (e.g. how to make the course available to students, post an announcement, create a discussion forum, create an assignment, etc.)
  • Answer questions concerning instructional approaches and options to enrich their courses with quizzes, discussion forums, grades and rubrics, and other relevant institutionally supported technologies.
  • Learn about their department/school faculty needs and communicate the needs for additional resources, training, and support as needed to the Office of Online Education and IT.
