You have accessed the gateway to a successful career in the life sciences. Our Department of Biological Sciences provides wide-ranging opportunities for an experiential education that spans the breadth of biological sciences for training at the Undergraduate, Master's, and Ph.D. levels. The mission of our department is to provide you with a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary education, including opportunities to conduct cutting-edge research, engage in the latest technologies, and develop skills in analysis and communication. In our state-of-the-art laboratories, you will find our students conducting research on tissue engineering to treat eye disease, contributing to discoveries of new medicines from medicinal plants, using computers to mine genomes, investigating cancer and malaria, applying metabolic engineering and synthetic biology to advance sustainable solutions to global food insecurity and nutritional deficiencies, pursuing research on urban ecology and conservation, and the list goes on. A degree in biology will open the door to post-graduate programs, careers in medicine, dentistry and law, and/or positions in government, industry, health care, agriculture, marketing, publishing, education, computer science, and research.
