Welcome Aspiring Human Rights Education Advocates!
Our Advanced Certificate in Human Rights Education and Transformative Justice is an innovative initiative as we take steps towards creating a more just, equitable, and compassionate world.
Our four-course program empowers education professionals, community agency staff, and justice personnel with the knowledge and skills to become effective advocates for social change and liberation. As a learning community, we will explore the relationships between human rights education, transformative justice, and community building, learning to implement strategies that foster democratic values and human dignity.
What sets our program apart is its focus on practical application to acquire tangible skills to create transformative community cultures and address structural forms of oppression, making a lasting impact in your sphere of influence.
We invite you to apply and join our community of like-minded individuals committed to positive social change, exploring challenging concepts, and working towards solutions that reshape our society.
Welcome to a journey of empowerment, advocacy, and transformative justice!
Human Rights Education and Transformative Justice Advanced Certificate
The Advanced Certificate Program in Human Rights Education and Transformative Justice is designed for individuals who have earned a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. The program supports community building within educational organizations, teaches non-punitive conflict resolution skills, addresses school-to-prison pipeline injustices, strengthens democratic values rooted in universal human rights and respect for human dignity, and helps identify and correct structural forms of oppression, including racism, sexism, and genderism that create division and disadvantages.
Program Benefits Detailed
This Advanced Certificate program offers knowledge and skills to students so that they can begin to immediately apply in their respective places of work to either develop new programs or to support the more extended development of current programs in both schools and communities. The Advanced Certificate is based, in part, on the School of Education’s Lehman Urban Transformative Education conceptual framework, whose mission is to facilitate the development of competent, caring, and qualified leaders and advocates.
