Dr. Rossen Petkov serves as the Chair of the Department of Accounting and is a Full Professor of Accounting at the School of Business, Lehman College, City University of New York (CUNY). He earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of National and World Economy (Sofia, Bulgaria), an M.P.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. in Economics and Statistics from the University of Rochester.

Dr. Petkov is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) in the State of New York and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He also holds the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).

His primary research interests encompass accounting for internally generated intangible assets, prehistoric accounting, fraud, and taxation. Dr. Petkov has published extensively in numerous peer-reviewed academic journals, including Accountancy Business and the Public Interest, International Journal of Digital Accounting Research, Journal of Theoretical Accounting Research, Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting, Journal of Forensic & Investigative Accounting, and Rutgers Business Review. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for several leading academic journals.

Prior to joining the faculty at Lehman College, Dr. Petkov served as a senior auditor at KPMG, where he was responsible for quarterly and annual audits, as well as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance engagements, for major U.S. and international public and private companies. His areas of practical expertise include the oil and gas, service, manufacturing, and retail industries.
