B.S. IN NURSING
Accelerated Nursing Program
The Accelerated Nursing Program, which leads to a B.S. degree in nursing, is designed to prepare students with a bachelor's degree in another field for a professional nurse career and provide a foundation for graduate study in nursing. It is a full-time, 15-month, 75-credit major, day program. The accelerated nursing program prepares its graduates to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) for licensure as a registered professional nurse.
The Accelerated Nursing program begins in the summer and extends through the subsequent semesters including the fall, winter, spring, and summer sessions.
Applicants must successfully complete all the prerequisite courses by the fall semester, prior to the application year, and take the HESI- A2 pre-admission exam prior to the nursing application deadline. No applications will be accepted for the accelerated program after the deadline.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION
Students who have been dropped from another nursing program are NOT eligible for admission to the nursing program at Lehman College. Students enrolled in another nursing program cannot transfer directly into Lehman’s nursing program. You must follow the Generic application procedures and must take all nursing courses required to complete the Generic nursing major.
Admission to Lehman College
Applicants will not be considered for admission to the nursing program unless they have been admitted to Lehman College. It is highly recommended that you verify Lehman College’s admission requirements and deadlines with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Shuster Hall, Room 161. You are responsible to follow-up on the status of your application for admission to the college to ensure you are admitted on time
Important for New Transfer Students
A final admissions decision on your nursing application cannot be made until your Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) has been officially posted in CUNYfirst.
To avoid delays, ensure that all official transcripts have been submitted to and processed by the Undergraduate Admissions Office.

- If you are unsure of the college requirements then you should schedule a meeting with Academic Advising early in your college experience to verify any required Assessment or Placement exams.
Completion of Pre-requisite Courses
Pre-requisites must be completed:
1) Accelerated: by the end of the Fall semester, prior to the Spring intake period;
2) Traditional: by the end of the Spring semester (May).
Proof of Legal Status
The City University of New York has instituted the following requirement: all CUNY nursing departments will require applicants for admission into nursing programs to provide documentation
Minimum Grade Point
A minimum grade of a C (73) or better is required in all the pre-requisite courses, or their equivalents, and a MINIMUM CUMULATIVE GPA OF 2.75 or greater in the science pre-requisite courses to be eligible for admission to the Generic Nursing Programs.
Effective 2027, all pre-requisite science courses (Biology and Chemistry) required for admission to the undergraduate Generic Nursing Programs will be subject to a seven-year expiration limit.
Courses completed more than seven years prior to the date of application submission will not be reviewed for program eligibility, nor considered for fulfillment of admission requirements. Applicants with expired coursework will be required to retake the course(s) to demonstrate current competency.
Please note: Although courses can be repeated in accordance with college policy, if a pre-requisite science course is repeated, only the first grade within the seven-year limit will be counted when considering eligibility for admission to the nursing program.
Pre-Nursing Exams
Applicants must take a standardized Admission Assessment Exam (HESI A2) and a Dosage Calculation Exam administered by the Nursing Department.
All transfer applicants must complete the CUNY Transfer Application before submitting the NursingCAS Application. Applicants are responsible for completing, managing, and monitoring both applications to ensure all requirements are met by the deadline.

To be eligible for the Summer Accelerated Generic Nursing start term, all required pre-requisite courses must be completed no later than the end of the Winter intersession immediately preceding the Summer semester. Coursework completed after Winter intersession will not be considered for the March 15 application deadline.
