Ambassador status isn’t given... It’s earned.
UMLP Members who demonstrate academic excellence and active engagement may be chosen to become UMLP Ambassadors.
During our official Induction Ceremony, selected students are “Blazed”, awarded the official UMLP Blazer and recognized as leaders within the program.
To Become an Ambassador, You Must:
- Maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA
- Complete an in-person leadership interview
- Submit a 500-word essay sharing your vision and commitment
- Attend and actively participate in at least four UMLP events
What It Means to Be an Ambassador:
- You represent UMLP on campus
- You model academic excellence
- You support recruitment and events
- You embody scholarship, leadership, and service

Highest Student Leadership Role
Ambassadors who are ready for the next level may be selected to serve as UMLP Mentors.
Mentors are trusted leaders who guide and support UMLP Members through their academic and personal development journeys.
This is a paid leadership position, because mentorship is serious work, and we value your time and impact.
As a UMLP Mentor, You Will:
- Support mentees with academic goal setting
- Conduct regular check-ins
- Help new members navigate campus life
- Strengthen enrollment, retention, and graduation outcomes
- Leave a lasting impact on another student’s journey
