Testing Accommodation Procedures
The Office of Student Disability Services supports faculty when providing testing accommodations to students who qualify; our staff is available to assist you in the administration of exams on behalf of our students.
As of January 2025, all testing accommodations will be processed through the CUNY Accommodate platform which can be accessed by the link below:

Our Testing Centers, located in room 238 Shuster Hall and in the Access and Technology Center in the Library room 146, are equipped with:
- Computers containing assistive and mainstream technology for students who require it
- Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) / electronic magnifiers for students with low-vision
- A reader, or scribe can also be made available by our office
Students who are eligible for testing accommodations during a test or a quiz, such as extended time, use of assistive technology, or a distraction-free room, should notify professors at the beginning of the semester. Some professors request that SDS administers extended-time exams; other professors may choose to oversee exams themselves, with the required accommodations in place.
Students need to follow the SDS testing accommodations process to receive this service. An eligible student will be furnished with an accommodation letter, which they will request through CUNY Accommodate at the beginning of the semester, stating that they are entitled to receive testing accommodations. (It is the student’s responsibility to initiate this process through CUNY Accommodate's Exam Form.)
If the exam is to be proctored by SDS, faculty should follow these steps:
- Login to CUNY Accommodate when prompted by an email notifying you that a student in your class has submitted an Exam Form in the CUNY Accommodate platform
- Follow the instructions to submit the exam instructions and upload a copy of the exam into CUNY Accommodate. Exams are no longer to be emailed to the SDS Office but can still be dropped off in person
- Once the student has completed the exam it will be delivered back to you as per your instructions in CUNY Accommodate
If you have a preference for a specific proctoring environment or you would like to oversee exams yourself with the required accommodations in place, please reach out to the SDS office at Disability.Services@Lehman.cuny.edu to make arrangements.
