Join us for an engaging, 40-minute virtual session that demystifies digital accessibility and introduces the new self-paced Digital Accessibility course in Brightspace, now available for all CUNY faculty and staff.

Far from just a compliance obligation, digital accessibility is a shared goal we can achieve together. This session is designed to make accessibility feel approachable and practical for everyone who builds or manages digital content. The talk will center around three core areas:

  • What is digital accessibility? A high-level overview of what it means in practice and how the legal and policy landscape is currently shifting.
  • Why does it matter here at CUNY? A closer look at why accessibility is especially critical right now, and how it ensures equitable access for all students, faculty, and staff experiencing either permanent or situational/temporary disabilities.
  • What can we do? Practical, everyday ways we can all support best practices, alongside a preview of how the new self-paced Brightspace course can help you get there.

Whether you are designing new online modules or updating existing materials, this session will provide the foundational context to help us build a more inclusive digital environment.
