Biography
Suzette Ramsundar, EdD, brings over fifteen years of experience in higher education, student development, and equity-driven programming. She currently serves as Director of the Office of Campus Life at Lehman College, City University of New York, where she leads initiatives that foster leadership, advocacy, and inclusion for first-generation, commuter, and historically underserved students. In this role, she oversees large-scale campus initiatives, including New Student Orientation and Weeks of Welcome, and designs culturally responsive programs and co-curricular pathways that support student success.
In 2017, Ramsundar conceptualized and co-launched the Lehman College Food Bank alongside student leaders, an initiative that received national recognition, including a feature in Hungry to Learn by Soledad O'Brien. She also created the Peer Educator Food Justice Program and established partnerships with World Central Kitchen and The New York Botanical Gardens to expand experiential learning opportunities for students.
Since 2013, Ramsundar has taught graduate-level courses in Counselor Education and Organizational Leadership at Lehman College, grounded in culturally responsive pedagogy and the Lehman Urban Transformative Education framework. She holds an EdD in Organizational Leadership, Development and Change and an MS in Organizational Leadership from Lehman College, CUNY; an MA in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University; an MA in Counselor Education from Lehman College, CUNY; and a BA in English from Hunter College, CUNY.
Her research interests include student engagement, leadership self-efficacy, culturally relevant pedagogy, experiential learning, and Communities of Practice. She is a member of NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators) and an alumna of the Qiyadat Global Women's Leadership Program at Georgetown University.
