Biography

Monique Murray

What is your favorite thing about Lehman?

Lehman is a place of inclusivity and support. There are many resources on campus, and faculty and staff are willing to help. I have always felt welcomed, especially as a non-traditional student. I also enjoy the campus's natural surroundings, where I can take short walks with colleagues and connect with nature. There are always events happening throughout the campus, and I especially appreciate the sense of community and human connection that Lehman offers.

Why did you join the Mental Health Committee?

I joined the Mental Health Committee for two reasons. First, I joined as an undergraduate student member because I wanted to give back to Lehman for the support I received throughout my journey. Second, I believe that mental well-being is a major factor in having a positive and successful college experience. The Mental Health Committee at Lehman is very active and is always looking for ways to improve and create events and initiatives that support both students and employees.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I make my own hair and skincare products and am currently learning how to code.

What is your favorite self-care or stress relief activity?

One of my favorite stress-relief activities is watching movies that remind me of my childhood. I have a list of favorite movies that I turn to whenever I am feeling stressed. I disconnect from everything else and simply enjoy the movie until it is over. If I am still feeling stressed, I will watch another movie. It gives me an opportunity relax and reconnect with happy memories.
