Biography
Azadeh Keivani
An astrophysicist, AI specialist, and social-impact entrepreneur, Dr. Azadeh Keivani has built a career intersecting academic research and teaching, corporate AI strategy, and community-driven workforce development.
Dr. Keivani’s academic background is rooted in science and higher education. After earning her Ph.D. in physics from Louisiana State University and completing postdoctoral work at Pennsylvania State University, she spent several years within the New York City academic ecosystem. At Columbia University, she championed scientific literacy by designing core curricula and mentoring the next generation of scientists; work she extended through teaching roles at Barnard College and mentorship at the American Museum of Natural History.
Her work also extends to translating technical frameworks into community and industry applications. As the founder of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Digital Age Academy Inc., she established partnerships to equip the Bronx youth with AI and entrepreneurship skills. Her recent docuseries, “Citizen Science: A Symphony of Human Power,” focuses on teaching public data utilization for community advocacy.
This civic work is paired with enterprise experience leading AI and machine learning initiatives at Deloitte, alongside previous technology and data science roles at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Keivani, a recipient of the American Physical Society’s 2023 Career Lectureship Award for translating complex research into societal solutions and educational impact, has consistently advocated for immigrants, women, and first-generation college students throughout her career.
