Biography
Dr. de la Parra joined the Department of Chemistry at Lehman College as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2019 and became part of the faculty of the Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Biology Ph.D. programs at The Graduate Center, CUNY in 2020. She earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Medical Sciences Campus at the University of Puerto Rico, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at New York University (NYU) School of Medicine.
Dr. de la Parra’s lab focuses on cancer metabolism, translational control, protein synthesis, and bioactive compounds from natural products with anticancer activity. She is also interested in health promotion, disease prevention, and science education.
Dr. de la Parra has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and received several competitive grants, including a predoctoral fellowship from the Department of Defense (DoD), a postdoctoral fellowship from the American Cancer Society (ACS), and research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a faculty member at CUNY (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5438-8157).
