Jodell Ulerie ('17), a Philosophy and English double major, has been accepted to the Master's degree program in Philosophy at Virginia Tech.
Maimuna Doulah ('16), a Philosophy and English double major, will be attending CUNY Law School in the fall of 2017. She will continue to work as a Trial Prep Assistant for the Conviction Integrity Unit of the Bronx District Attorney's Office.
Angelica Nunez ('18), a Lehman Scholar Philosophy and Biological Sciences double major, has won a Summer Health Professions Health Education Program fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center.
Amely Del Rosario ('18), a Philosophy major who was CUNYAC player of the year for the Lehman Lightning Women's Basketball team, has been chosen to play for Las Olimpicas de la Vega, a team that plays in the National League of Women's Basketball in the Dominican Republic. Raquel Calero ('19), a Macaulay Honors College student at Lehman and a Philosophy and Biological Sciences double major, has been chosen as a CUNY Futures Initiative Leadership Fellow for 2017-2018. She was also offered a Research Associate Internship at Bellevue Hospital for 2017-2018.
Philosophy Major in Wall Street Journal
Victor Borja ('14), a philosophy major and a member of the Phi Sigma Tau, the philosophy honor society, had his paper, "The Principles of Powers to be applied for Global Justice: A Methodological Approach on the Problem of Global Poverty," published in the Spring 2014 issue of "The Gadfly", the undergraduate philosophy journal of the Philosophy Program at LaGuardia Community College. Later in the year he was also interviewed as part of the story in The Wall Street Journal on New York City protests against police violence. Victor co-founded an activist group, the Eleven24 Coalition for Humanitarian Justice, which operates out of a shared Crown Heights apartment. Eleven24 offers “study groups” of 10 people per class, where discussions focus on philosophy, politics, humanitarian issues—and how to make an impact. For the full interview, see here.
