Biography

A picture of a professor

Lizette Aguilar has over 20 years of educational experience. She believes schools are spaces in which all children deserve to thrive and shine. She began her career teaching Middle School English and Social Studies in Newark, NJ, and then went on to teach in The Bronx, East Harlem and West Harlem. During her time as a school-based educator she served in many teacher leadership roles including Lead Teacher, Professional Development Committee Chair, New Teacher and Pre-service Teacher Mentor and as an Assistant Principal and Principal.

Lizette is currently completing a Ph.D. in Urban Education at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research interests are in teacher identity and pedagogy, literacy, school leadership and organization.
