Summer Financial Aid

 

 

We encourage you to read and follow the summer financial aid guidelines listed below for summer financial aid for those attending Lehman College. The summer information on this page supplements standard eligibility criteria for each program.

File all aid applications early.  FAFSA and TAP applications must be filed annually. For filing information go to the FAFSA Instructions.

TAP

In order to qualify for an accelerated summer New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) payment, you should do the following:

  • File a TAP application for 2024-2025.
  • Be full time in the prior spring term.
  • Earn 24 credits from the same College in the prior two terms.
  • Be enrolled at least half-time (6 – 11 credits) in the summer.
  • Meet all other TAP eligibility requirements.

Federal Pell Grant for Summer 2024

Pell Grant eligible students can receive up to 150% of their scheduled Pell award each year. What does this mean for you? If you were a Pell eligible student in Fall 2023 and/or Spring 2024, you may qualify for a Pell Grant for Summer 2024!

Eligibility

To be eligible for a summer Pell Grant, you must: 

  • File a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for both both 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.
  • Be eligible to receive a Pell Grant.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
  • Have remaining Pell Lifetime Eligibility (cannot have received more than 12 full time semesters of Pell).
  • For some students, there is a requirement to enroll at least half-time (6+ credits) to receive the Pell Grant for summer.

Federal Student Grants Available for CUNY Undergraduate Student

*You must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements as of the end of the previous spring semester in order to be eligible for any summer aid, including loans.

Federal Direct Student Loan (FDL) ***Please visit this page after 5/18/2024 for instructions on applying for Summer 2024 Loans***

Direct Loans for the Summer 2024 session are based on your 2024-2025 Academic Year FAFSA. In addition to filing the FAFSA and TAP applications, you must also submit a Federal Direct Student Loan Request online via CUNYFirst.

SEEK

Summer SEEK awards are based on the new academic year FAFSA, PENDING AVAILABILITY OF SEEK FUNDS. SEEK students who have not already received 2 summer payments can receive Summer SEEK funding if they are registered for a minimum of 6 credits for summer session I and/or summer session II combined.
