Marina Stopler is a Lecturer in the Dietetics, Foods, and Nutrition Program. She received her B.S. in biology from SUNY Binghamton and her graduate degree in applied physiology and nutrition from Teachers College, Columbia University. In 1991, she took the Registered Dietitian exam and has since been an active member of the American Dietetic Association. She has worked as a physical fitness instructor, a researcher in the Bronx V.A. Hospital, and for the Women's Infants, and Children (WIC) program for Montefiore Medical Center. While working for WIC, Professor Stopler developed an interest in infant feeding and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She was recertified with the International Lactation Consultants Association in 2004. She has been teaching as an adjunct lecturer at Lehman College since 1998.
Professor Stopler is also active at her local PTA. As co-president, she started an edible garden for the children at the elementary level. As a member of the middle school garden committee, an edible garden is being planned for children in the middle school level. She has also been a member of her school district’s Wellness Committee for the past several years.
She is a board member of the Westchester/Putnam/Rockland Lactation Consortium for the past 10 years and a member of the Westchester Rockland Dietetic Association.
