Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Hybrid
Launch your fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with this New York State Education Department approved training. This comprehensive program equips you with the knowledge and skills to excel in diverse healthcare settings, from hospitals and hospice facilities to home health agencies. CNAs work directly with patients and their families providing quality patient care. Duties range from feeding to taking vital signs.
Pay average in NYC is $21.87 per hour ($45,500 annually).
Upon successful program completion, we’ll guide you through scheduling your NYS CNA certification exam – it’s included! Additional attempts require a testing fee to be paid.
COURSES
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Course 1
This first part of the CNA program covers Anatomy/Physiology & Fundamentals of Patient Care topic and will provide the foundation for your CNA training.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Course 2
Building upon the foundation set in Anatomy/Physiology & Fundamentals of Patient Care topic in Course 1, this course delves deeper into advanced patient care practices and prepares you for application of your skills through an in-person off-site clinical rotation.
Please note:
- Didactic instruction is provided online and typically two nights per night.
- Skills instruction are provided in-person at CUNY on the Concourse, 2501 Grand Concourse.
- Clinicals are typically four days 8 am-4 pm during the week or on the weekends.
- Tuition includes instruction, exam voucher, in-person off-site clinical, and medical testing/immunizations for clinical rotations. Does not include books, uniform, or registration fees.
PREREQUISITES
- High School diploma or equivalency.
- Demonstrate fluency in English, reading test may be given.
- Required Medical Forms (due on 1st day of class). Click here to download Medical Form.
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster are required.
- CPR 100: CPR for Health Care Providers or current American Heart Association required before clinical rotation.
- Valid government ID for testing.
- Basic computer skills are required for online learning.
PROGRAM CERTIFICATION
Satisfactory completion of Course 1 and Course 2 plus CPR certification proof is required to be eligible to take the New York State (NYS) credentialing exam.
TOPICS:
Anatomy/Physiology and Fundamentals of Patient Care
Master the inner workings of the human body through in-depth anatomy and physiology studies. Gain proficiency in essential patient care skills, from assisting with daily activities to applying rehabilitation techniques. 97 hours includes orientation, and didactic and skills instruction.
Clinical for CNAs
After successful completion of Anatomy/Physiology & Fundamentals of Patient Care, the program culminates in supervised clinical rotations where you’ll put theory into practice, providing hands-on care to patients under the guidance of RNs. 30 hours.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The program above is qualified for Workforce1 ITG Vouchers. Individual Training Grant (ITG) vouchers are issued by Workforce1 Career Centers and provide funding for occupational skills training that leads to employment in New York City high-demand occupations.
