Beth Smith, Cannabis Entrepreneur/Bronx Business Center Partner

Beth Smith has been an Elementary and Special Education teacher for 23 years, until May 2023, when she was awarded one of the dispensary licenses approved through the Office of Cannabis Management. Beth is proud to be one of the few women with a CAURD license in the state. She applied for a license with her son and his best friend and with the help of the Bronx Cannabis Hub. Working with the NY CAURD Coalition Beth learned about the resources available through the Lehman College School of Continuing and Professional Studies Bronx Business Tech Incubator. The Tech Incubator offers access to high-speed Wi-Fi, office space, a comfortable conference room, and free business consultations; all focused so she can get her business off on the right foot! Looking to the future of the industry, Beth is excited about the potential of partnering with Lehman College for workforce development initiatives, including offering internships and staffing her business with people trained by Borough of Manhattan Community College. In her words, “I want to be part of a program where people can learn the industry and know that they have a job when they come out.” We’re delighted to be a part of Beth’s new business!
