Mural, Ground floor hallway NYC Board of Education Percent for Art Program |
Ellen and Allan Wexler's Drawings mural presents the viewer with a detailed blueprint which combines the architectural layout of the school with possible revisions, elevation drawings of the ground-floor hallway where the work is located, and other maps at different scales. The artwork invites the children to experience their school in an entirely different way that involves mathematics, drawing, and reading. The very scale of the work, 112 feet long, lends an element of monumental importance to the architecture around them.
