Striving to include historical figures often overlooked by curriculum into The Call, Walton Ford incorporated images of such notable people as Dr. Charles Drew (who dese- gregated the Red Cross blood supply); entrepreneur Madame C.J. Walker; civil rights activist Rosa Parks; and painter Frida Kahlo on to the circular ceiling in the lobby. The figures appear to be reaching out to the viewer as if to assist or uplift them. In the auditorium, Walton Ford uses the images of Artemis, Horus, and Ixchel to represent different cultures and traditions coming together in two murals known collectively as Inside-Out.
