Annel Then, Class of 2023
Upon transferring from BMCC and gaining acceptance to Lehman College, I recognized the importance of securing resources to support my pursuit of a degree in Media Communication Studies and a minor in Journalism. Having previously been a part of the ASAP program at BMCC, I was eager to explore new opportunities, and my journey led me to the ACE program. I decided to attend an information session, which ultimately provided me with an abundance of resources to enrich my college experience and enhance my professional studies.
Throughout my two years at Lehman, my dedicated advisor, Delwing Gaines, played an indispensable role in guiding me through the most challenging moments of my college career. Whether it involved selecting the right classes for the upcoming semester or ensuring I had access to the necessary textbooks and academic support to thrive in my studies, Delwing and the ACE program consistently provided invaluable assistance. Additionally, during my time at Lehman College, I had the privilege of securing an internship with Young Hollywood during my junior year and Afterbuzz TV's Better Together x Maria Menounos during my senior year, and the ACE program played a pivotal role in facilitating these valuable experiences while ensuring that I received the rightful benefits for my contributions.
The ACE program supported my academic journey and helped me forge meaningful connections with fellow students. It played a pivotal role in ensuring I graduated on time and provided valuable insights into identifying high-quality internship opportunities. Furthermore, it emphasized the significance of teamwork and the importance of being open to receiving assistance, both of which have been instrumental in my personal and academic growth as a college student.

Carmen Velasquez, Class of 2023
My name is Carmen Velasquez, a 2023 graduate of Lehman College. I earned my degree in Philosophy with a minor in Political Science. Although I know my efforts and hard work got me to this point, I would not have been able to attend college without the support of the ACE program. I utilized the benefits of the ASAP and ACE programs throughout my 4 years of college, which I will forever be grateful for. With my Bachelor’s degree, I am looking forward to going to law school and pursuing a career in law.
My advice to students who are considering the ACE program is to go for it! The benefits and opportunities it provides will really work in your favor plus the wonderful support they give you. If you are already in the program, keep striving for greatness!
Lastly, a big thank you to my family, the ACE program, and Lehman College!
