Jorge Tacla
was born in 1958 in Santiago, Chile. From 1976 to 1979 Tacla studied Fine Arts at Escuela de Bellas Artes, Universidad de Chile in Santiago. He moved to New York in 1981. Tacla has had many one-person exhibitions including Galeria Sur, Santiago, Chile; Nohra Haime Gallery, New York; Galeria Forum, Lima; Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art, New York, Lehman College Art Gallery, Bronx, NY; and the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA, among others. He is the recipient of several grants including New York Foundation for the Arts (1987), and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation (1988). Memories of the Bronx is Tacla's first public art commission.
