Instructional Innovation
- Reduce Math "Bottlenecks" - Mathematics is a recognized "bottleneck" in STEM education at collaborating institutions and many incoming students require math remediation. To address these barriers and potentially propel Scholars to complete their STEM degree in a timely manner, math proficiency programming activities will be implemented.
- Summer Intervention with Assessment and Learning Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS) Workshop - Prepare students with a unique four-week workshop designed to help students pass College Algebra, a STEM gateway course in the summer prior to the start of their first semester.
- Undergraduate Research - The incorporation of a Research Experience for Undergraduates is well-supported as a High Impact Practice that increases enrollment and retention in STEM majors and also increases the graduation rates, especially for Hispanic and low-income students.
- Faculty Team Teaching - A STEM initiative across campuses will create opportunities for faculty across disciplines to engage with each other, implement active classrooms, identify aspects they want to change in curriculum, and to even create common learning goals and assessments - all with the goal of increasing pass rates in STEM courses.
