Program Description and Career Opportunities
The Lehman Africana Studies BA Degree explores the history, culture, arts, politics, and religions of African descended people in Africa and the African Diaspora in the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean. In Sankofa spirit, the program appraises the past, examines the present, and seeks to shape the future around social justice.
Africana Studies Online BA option meets our students where they are! It offers a unique opportunity to study complex issues, develop sharp critical thinking skills, strong research abilities and communication skills, to uphold the quest for racial equity and social justice.
An Africana Studies BA will prepare you for graduate studies leading to graduate degrees in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; careers in education, business, law and criminal justice, medicine and health, civil service, diplomatic service, non-governmental organizations, and more. This degree will also allow for greater flexibility in adapting to various professional opportunities and offer a comparative advantage on the job market.

Admission Requirements
Lehman College accepts both entering freshmen and transfer students and admission to the Online Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies program is based on general admission requirements of Lehman College/CUNY.

Cost
The cost per credit hour is $305 (in-state tuition & fees).
