On November 21, Lehman College hosted its annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway, an event that has grown increasingly popular over the years. At least 400 students participated.

FOX NY stopped by and spoke to Jermaine Wright, vice president for Student Affairs.

“Lehman College’s annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway highlights the College’s dedication to supporting student success and well-being,” said Wright. “Through Lehman’s Basic Needs Center, this initiative provides crucial support to students facing food insecurity, helping to alleviate their challenges during the holiday season. By providing access to nutritious food during the holiday season, Lehman helps ease the burdens that many students face.”

Participants received all the ingredients of a classic family-sized Thanksgiving dinner with the help of Lehman’s generous community partners. Fresh produce was provided by Montefiore Einstein Hospital System, Chef's Warehouse, and Affinity Healthcare by Molina; turkeys and chickens were provided by NY Common Pantry, Kappa Alpha Psi/MetroPlus Health, HITN, and Morton Williams Supermarkets; and nonperishable items were provided by the Lehman College Food Pantry.
