Hi, my name
is Kim, and I came to the hospital because my stomach hurt. That sure is
one kind of pressure that nobody likes. Then I found out that my kidneys
were the culprits, so I'm taking some medicine to make them behave like
they're supposed to.
Because of my medical problems, another type of pressure came into my life. See that machine? Well, it measures how hard my heart is beating. You know, whether it's going lub-dub, lub-dub, or LUB-DUB, LUB-DUB. It takes my blood PRESSURE (see I told you it was another kind of pressure!) I know it probably looks like it must hurt, but it doesn't. It just feels like a really tight hug on my arm. I bet you knew that already if you ever had your blood pressure taken for a physical exam. When I first heard the nurse say that she was going to take my blood pressure, I wondered where she was going to take it, and if she was going to bring it back. Isn't that silly? |
