Professor Jessica M. Kahn
Dr. Kahn has social work experience as a clinician, case manager, consultant, and administrator in health care, mental health care, and child welfare settings in Illinois, Connecticut, and New York City. She has primarily worked with children and families with medical and mental health care needs, including medically fragile and sexually abused children. Dr. Kahn has taught a variety of social work courses since coming to Lehman College in 2005, including research, policy, and child welfare. She earned her BA from Davidson College in North Carolina, her MSW from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York City. She has published in journals including Children and Youth Services Review, Social Science Research, The Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work, and Journal of Early Childhood Research, among others. Her research interests include child and family policy, child welfare, child maltreatment, evidence-based practice, and social work pedagogy, particularly the use of writing in the instruction process. Dr. Kahn is the MSW Program Graduate Advisor.
