From the Assistant Director, Joseph McElligott
The City and the Humanities event series presents artists and speakers from all the humanistic disciplines and is always open to the Lehman, CUNY and Bronx community. The program offers courses that explore the relationships between an urban environment, the humanities, and the arts. Students in this program attend weekly lectures, screenings, and performances on campus, visit a variety of cultural institutions in New York City, and have the option to engage in supervised, humanities-related internships. The objective of The City and the Humanities lectures and performances is to enhance the cultural life of the campus and community as a whole and provide resources for many of its parts. We also continually seek new members from outside of the Lehman community by sending copies of our program to mailing lists, e-mail directories, libraries, community centers and numerous neighborhood organizations.
