The Lehman Players
The Lehman Players is The Wellness Education and Promotion Program's peer health education theater group. The Lehman Players perform at New Student Orientation, during health outreach events, such as World AIDS Day programming, and during special classroom workshops. Performances are based on college health issues, including HIV and sexually transmitted infections, safer sex, alcohol and drug use, relationships, and healthy decision-making. Meet the Writer and Performance Director
Heriberto Oquendo, Jr. is a graduate of City College of the City University of New York. A trained character actor, he studied acting and voice in the Woody King, Jr. New Federal Theatre Program. His credits include Chaste Maid in Cheapside, Reckless, Gallatea, Special People of International Character, The Basset Table,Mental Reservation, The Strindberg Festival, Anomaly: Under Construction, La Reina's Barriolesque, Viva Bronx Festival, I Remember Mama, Raisin in the Sun, Comedy of Errors. Musical Theatre credits include: Fame, The Wiz, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Bye, Bye Birdie, Once on This Island, Cabaret. His set design/lighting design/costume design/ stage make-up/ stage management experience include The Wound, Trail of Tears, The King Stag, A Touch of Brightness, Hair, La Reina’s Barriolesque, West Side Story, Once on This Island, Cabaret. He has authored the following works: Adroit Enough? (Runner-up Met Life Nuestras Voces Competition), Ascension: Walking Towards the Light, For This I Pray, Anomaly: Under Construction. He has performed in several playhouses throughout the tri-state area, including the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, HERE Theater, Pregones, La Mama, Theater for the New City, and Aaron Davis Hall. He is a trained lyric tenor and has sung in several venues from community center performances to corporate events.
Meet the Cast
Brittney Coleman is a recent graduate of Lehman College (Class of 2010) with a Bachelors degree in Theatre. Her past credits include "As Bees in Honey Drown" and "Please Shut Up". She hopes to continue to act professionally and direct children theatre. In her free time she enjoys doing community service with her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority sisters, scrapbooking, dancing and working out.
Lordia R. Rudd obtained her BBA and graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors from Lehman College. Although she is currently pursuing an MSB at Lehman with a concentration in Human Resources, her employment background is in business management and administration. Lordia is a long-standing member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), she enjoys community service, and hopes that one day she'll become a successful actress.
Elba Rodriguez graduated from Talent Unlimited High School as a drama major. For three years, she was part of an acting troupe led by Eve Ensler of The Vagina Monologues. The group worked on a collaborative piece called "The Youth Monologues". She has acted in throughout New York City, and made her Lehman College theatrical debut in the show BUG in 2009.
Davi Santos is a sophomore at the Macaulay Honors College at Lehman College. He attended LaGuardia Performing Arts High School. Davi began acting in middle school when he attended the Professional Performing Arts School in Midtown. Since then he has been exploring theater, national commercials, and other exciting projects.
Kazi Sumon is a freshmen at the Macaulay Honors College at Lehman College and is a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science. Acting has always been an interest for Kazi, and being a member of the Lehman Players has allowed him to enjoy this art. Kazi has been taking theatre and acting classes to enhance his talent.
