Is the Urban Male Leadership Program open to everyone?

The programs and activities of the Urban Male Leadership Program are open to all students, faculty and staff, without regard to race, gender, national origin and other characteristics.

What type of workshops have you held in the past?

Our workshops focus on things that will help students succeed in their academic, personal, and professional lives. We have focused on topics like:

  • time management,
  • stress reduction,
  • utilizing library resources for research,
  • creating successful study groups, and
  • exam preparation

How do I become a peer mentor?

Peer mentors must be active in UMLP and maintain a 3.0 GPA (Grade Point Average) or above. You are also expected to attend specialized training, come to program workshops regularly and meet with your mentee a minimum number of hours weekly.

Why should I become a peer mentor?

Becoming a peer mentor is a great addition to your resume. Mentorship also allows you to build your leadership skills while helping your fellow students. You learn to problem solve and become a better listener too. UMLP mentors are also paid for their time.
