The Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK Learning Center offers free individual tutoring sessions, group tutoring sessions, supplemental instruction, CUNY Skills workshops, online writing support, Math and Science workshops.

All tutoring sessions are held in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Tutoring is offered on an hourly basis for most coursework, as well as for CUNY Basic Skills in Reading, Writing, and Math. Appointments can be scheduled in advanced or made on a walk-in basis. We recommend making appointments in advance because tutor schedules can fill up very quickly.

Should a tutor not be available for the course in which you need help, the SEEK Learning Center works closely with other academic support programs on campus, such as the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) located in the Old Gym Building, Room 215, the Math Lab (Gillet Hall, Room 222), and the Science Learning Center (Gillet Hall, Room 133) to get you the help you need.

Learning Facilitation Lab (LFL)

A one-hour a week required group session designed for students to develop their reading comprehension and critical thinking skills, discuss aspects of the writing process and develop the necessary skills to improve writing.

Supplemental Instruction (SI)

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a 50-minute review session for students enrolled in historically difficult courses. SI sessions are led by former or current students who have been successful in these courses. SI is required for all SEEK freshmen because it has been shown to improve student learning and performance.  Students themselves report that SI not only helps them perform better in their courses, but it is a great way for them to make friends and receive mentoring from succesful students.

CUNY Basic Skills Workshops (Reading, Writing and Math)

SEEK conducts CUNY Basic Skills workshops throughout the year for students who have not yet passed one or more of the tests. These workshops focus on strategies for mastering the test and are usually held two to three times a week. Testing Center policy requires that all students complete at least 20 hours of workshop instruction or tutoring prior to testing.
