Sophomore Welcome Back Event
Monday, September 9th, 3-5pm, Faculty East Dining Room (Music Building). Join your fellow classmates and meet the Sophomore Year Initiative Staff. Find out more about resources available to you through SYI including personalized Academic and Career Advising, Counseling, Tutoring Services, Pre-Major Clubs, Programs, Fall 2013 events and more. Pick up free planners and school materials. Food will be served.
Pre-Major Club Welcome Event
Wednesday, September 18th, 3-5pm, Student Life Building, Room 111. Interested in joining a pre-major club in Business, Nursing or Pre-Law? Become a member by attending this welcome event. Meet fellow students who are exploring similar majors and get to know faculty advisors. Food will be served.
Mondays, 3:30-5pm: October 21st and December 9th, Shuster Hall 231, Career Services. Do you know the skills that will lead to academic and career success? Come to this workshop and you will have the opportunity to interact and engage in activities that will help you develop these skills and apply them during your college experience.

Come to this interactive workshop! You will begin the journey of knowing who you are and who you want to be. Know your purpose! Know your passion!
First Generation College Student Workshop, 3-Part Series
Mondays, 3-5pm: September 16th, October 28th, and November 25th, Library, Room 213. Students who are the first generation in their families to attend college frequently experience feeling lost, afraid, insecure, confused and disconnected from family, friends and school. If this is your experience, you don’t have to be alone. Come and join us for a series of workshops to help improve communication with family, your self-confidence and build communities with others who experience similar challenges.
Majors and Careers Panel Discussions
Tuesday, October 1st—Friday, October 18th. Thinking about pursuing a major and/or career in Nursing, Law, Business, Psychology, Speech/Language Sciences, and/or History? Majors and Careers Panel discussions will bring together Faculty Chairs, Faculty Advisors, Professional Advisors, & Career Counselors to provide students with more information on the various fields. Students will learn more about prerequisites, program requirements, and ways to prepare for study in the field.
Majors and Minors Fair
Wednesday, October 23rd, 3-6pm, Faculty Dining & East Dining (Music Building). Choosing a major is a major decision. The Majors and Minors Fair is intended to provide resources to students to start the journey of declaring a major and/or minor. Lehman will bring together representatives from virtually all departments on campus.
Summer Session Information Session
Do you know that Lehman offers over 1000 courses each Summer? For those of you that are considering taking summer courses, the Sophomore Year Initiative (SYI) program will be holding Summer Session Information Sessions.During the summer session workshop, Richard Finger, Director of Special Academic Sessions, will help answer questions you may have about Summer Session courses, registration timelines, things to know when considering a Summer session course, and more.
