Dance and Dialog

Dance and Dialog is an annual series that aims to start conversations about dance and explore the process of making dances. This year, two guest artists, Jason Rodriguez and Beverly Lopez, will create two pieces which will be performed by Lehman students. Performances will be followed by a Q and A with the artists and dancers.

Mind-Body Wellness Minor

The 12-credit Mind-Body Wellness minor consists of four required courses, plus 2 elective credits in dance. It addresses philosophies and techniques related to the mind-body connection.

DNC 222: Body in Society (3 credits)
DNC 230: Body and Wellness I (2 credits)
DNC 330: Body and Wellness II (2 credits)
DNC 340: Mind Body Connection (3 credits)

DNC 222 Body in Society

Using each individual's experience as a starting point, the course addresses the ways that neurological patterning, mental habits, culture, systems of governance and the media affect our perception and experience of the body. This course will combine physical/experiential learning as well as intellectual inquiry to address the relationship between the physical reality of the individual and the world.

DNC 230 Body and Wellness I Beginning-level research, analysis and practice of breathing and movement techniques to improve well-being. Students will explore embodied learning through the lens of different somatic traditions.

DNC 330 Body and Wellness II Advanced study and practice of breathing and movement techniques to improve well-being. Students will explore embodied learning through the lens of different somatic traditions.

DNC 340 Mind Body Connection This course explores the topic of the mind-body connection from a scientific, medical, philosophical and social science perspective.
